Johnnie Walker

Post by Red Baron » Sun Jun 09, 2024 12:47 pm

I can't link to Tiggy's article/post on Instagram but she's going to be on talking to Jeremy Vine about her role as a carer tomorrow and there's a podcast.
It appears that Johnnie is very unwell. 😥

His voice has sounded faltering recently but he is nearly 80. His show is the only R2 show I make an effort to listen to. One of the best.

I did wonder if all was well when he did that special a few weeks ago. He said he didn't know how much longer he would continue doing his show.

Felt very sad on hearing him say that.

Really sad to hear Johnnie saying he's going to finish his 58 year career at the end of the month.

I'll miss him.

Used to love Drivetime with JW. Nothing else has come close since.
I know a man who taught his dog to play the trumpet on the London Underground.
He went from Barking to Tooting in an hour.

This is so sad, I was wondering how much longer he would be able to go on. I've loved his shows since Radio 1 days when he did the 9am -10am slot following Tony Blackburn's breakfast show. Glad I got to meet him about 10 years ago.

Like RB I'll miss him.

I bet Piggy is editing his Deathpool predictions as I type.

Aww, that's sad.

He wished Mr J And I a happy first wedding anniversary on the drivetime show 19 years ago.

I was listening to him this afternoon and I think he said Bob Harris will be taking over. That's the only R2 show I listen to.

Bob Harris must be in his late 90's by now.

Bob is 78, just a year younger than Johnnie. He has had a few health issues of his own but will do a fab job.

Shaun Keaveney, ex 6 music, is taking over the Rock show.

I've been lucky enough to talk to Johnnie on one of his shows and meet him in person. He is a lovely man.

A wanker AND a pansy apparently.
Oh, and a wimp, and 'not a real man'.
