Beer

In recent years, we have rediscovered a taste for good beer. After a lifetime of rubbish like Scotch and Tartan ( include any others.you like in the list) we've tasted many varieties.
So I was devastated to discover that Hawkshead brewery has stopped bottling my all time favourite "Hawkshead Red". Still doing it in cask - but not much use if I want an evening drink.

Have a can of Special Brew and you won't care about pretty much anything.

M taste in beer has deteriorated in recent years.
I used to enjoy a bitter (or heavy), but now prefer a Bud or Estrella.
I can still take a Guinness though.

Ive not had a proper beer in years (long story) but have been pleasantly surprised by the quality & range of the low/no alcohol stuff available now. Current favourite is Free Damm from the makers of Estrella.

Surely the whole point of beer is that it is alcoholic, ie it gets you pissed or at least gives you a buzz..
No alcohol beer is a drink that tastes like beer but with no side effects, just drink water or have a nice cup of tea..

My son has a few alcohol free favourite beers.
I hate tasteless beer/lager, that's why I've been happy to find decent 'craft' beers in recent years.
We like to have a different drink in the evenings after a million cups of tea during the day. It's the taste, not the alcohol content we go for these days.

You'll just have to go for Highlander from Loch Fyne sis. Get a cask for Christmas perhaps?
During my forays in Plymouth I have discovered Haze Cider ( I know this is a beer thread, but) and I'm very glad they sell it in my local supermarket as it's rather tasty.
