Maybe they should have left things as they were......

I know a man who taught his dog to play the trumpet on the London Underground.
He went from Barking to Tooting in an hour.

I actually like the sound of that.
Modern music is shite, young people are too disrespectful and this all used to be fields.

A wanker AND a pansy apparently.

All of this! In my day singers didn't need autotuned, there was no litter and everyone was so smartly dressed, not like these days.

I remember the time when you could hear the latest pop tune heard on Two Way Family Favourites whistled merrily by a fat policeman as he cycled by.

You can't whistle this modern rubbish.
I once had a whim and I had to obey it
To buy a French Horn in a second-hand shop;
I polished it up and I started to play it
In spite of the neighbours who begged me to stop.

And if you whistle anything English you can be arrested.

Policemen are too young to ride bikes these days.
Without those training wheels anyway.

Obviously spurred by the net loss of 1 million listeners (from 14m) in the last year, most of whom have followed Ken the Bruce and Simon Mayo over to, er, Greatest Hits Radio.
However, I suspect this is a device to "update" R2 even more. What's the betting all the evening specialist shows, plus Sounds of the 60s/70s/80s, and even Trevor Nelson's soul show, get moved across to the new vehicle.

The only programme I will listen to is Johnny Walker.

FTFY Phloppy...
Odd thing, ain't it... you meet people one at a time, they seem decent, they got brains that work, and then they get together and you hear the voice of the people. And it snarls.

The devil of this will be in the details.
In his interview about Steve Wright, Gambo said that he'd spoken about it with him at the weekend. Although the Beeb announced it, and used Wright's photograph, they haven't let anyone know what's involved.
