I know a man who taught his dog to play the trumpet on the London Underground.
He went from Barking to Tooting in an hour.

Re: Hurrah
He past his sell by date years ago. Not that I ever listen to R2 these days, except Popmaster if I'm in the car and The Jazz Muppet's show on iPlayer Sunday afternoon. I'm shocked his replacement is a bloke tbh.
Odd thing, ain't it... you meet people one at a time, they seem decent, they got brains that work, and then they get together and you hear the voice of the people. And it snarls.

Re: Hurrah
As he says himself, he's been getting away with the same old guff for 24 years (and 12 years before that on Radio 1).
It's a sad reflection on pop music radio as a whole, that, when we're in the car these days, I actually prefer him to anyone else. Never thought I'd say that.
Scott Mills was a disaster when covering for Ken Bruce, but then, so was Zoe Ball, so that's probably why he's got the gig.

Re: Hurrah
Any word yet on where Wrighty will be moving to?
I’ve not listened for years but it was kinda comforting to know he was there.
Appreciate that R2 is now aimed at former R1 devotees who are now 5-10 years older, but where do former R2 fans move to? Not ready for the Archers just yet.

Re: Hurrah
Christ, not Scott Mills?
I'm also surprised that it wasn't a woman (well, it sort of is).

A wanker AND a pansy apparently.
Oh, and a wimp, and 'not a real man'.

Re: Hurrah
I like Steve, I'm sorry he's going. I don't mind Scott, he's not too modern and has a nice radio voice tone.
Re: Hurrah
If only he would mention his boyfriend now and then, and the fact that he's getting married.

Re: Hurrah
Well, it's nice to have a gay guy on the radio anyway.

Re: Hurrah
Well, I still won't be listening in the afternoons. I'm not keen on Scott Mills.
If they try to get rid of Ken, that'll be a different story.

Re: Hurrah
I like Ken and Wrighty, Jo in the evening and sometimes a bit of country with Bob.
Otherwise I can leave it.
When Paddy has been on this week instead of Buttmunch I've been listening to programmes about Billy Strayhorn on Radio 3
Surprisingly good.

Small mercies and all that.

Re: Hurrah
Openly gay obviously, does he really talk about his husband as much as that awful Ball woman talked about Fat Boy?

Future husband (wife?).
He bangs on about him all of the time, and how he (Scott) proposed.
I never listen to the awful Ball woman, because she's awful.

Re: Hurrah
You'll be sorry.
Apart from Ken, Radio 2 is now just a succession of women (nothing wrong with that of course) and poofs.
Hardly an "accurate representation of the British population".

And they've just binned off Craig Charles, the racists...
