Tsk! What's that got to do with Easter?

Post by Claude Balls » Tue Mar 12, 2019 6:38 pm

Forget chocolate for Easter this year... Supermarket giant Sainsbury's is launching a giant Easter egg made entirely of cheese.

Cheese fans will be able to get their fix over the holiday traditionally associated with chocolate when it lands in Sainsbury’s stores and online at www.sainsburys.co.uk from 10 April.

The new Cheesalicious Easter Egg is the first of its kind and is made from 120g of creamy cheddar, using the finest milk from Lancashire farms.

The pack from Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses is priced at £5 and also contains a packet of oatcakes, and one sachet of chutney - the perfect cheese board feast to eat over the bank holiday. So anyone who craves savoury over sweet won't have to miss out on indulging over the Easter break.

Emma Garvey, Cheese Buyer for Sainsbury’s, said: “We’re always looking for new and unique products to offer to our customers, especially during gifting periods throughout the year when people are on the lookout for something special to give their loved ones.

"The Cheesalicious Easter Egg seemed like an obvious and exciting choice to expand our Easter egg offering and cater to cheese aficionados nationwide. The egg is truly delicious and we can’t wait to see the response from our customers.”

This sounds like something Poods might be interested in, possibly.

120g cheese "egg" £5.00

350g block of cheddar £2.50

It's almost as if these bastards at Sainsbury are trying to cash-in on the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.

I'll just go for the two blocks of cheese instead then.

Just an extension of the exorbitant Easter egg principle.
Cadbury does a 500g "extra thick" Dairy Milk Easter egg for £10.00
For that price you can get, even at full price, twice the weight in five Dairy Milk bars.

I once had a whim and I had to obey it
To buy a French Horn in a second-hand shop;
I polished it up and I started to play it
In spite of the neighbours who begged me to stop.
