Wasn't there a...

Food and Drink section before the apocalypse?

Anyway, I've started my Christmas stuff today.

I thought I'd try making Bakewell tarts as well. I didn't make enough icing and couldn't be bothered to open another packet of icing sugar :lol:

They're not as sickly-sweet and sticky as Mr.Kipling bakes them.
I once had a whim and I had to obey it
To buy a French Horn in a second-hand shop;
I polished it up and I started to play it
In spite of the neighbours who begged me to stop.

They look delicious. My Christmas cakes are being liberally doused with brandy. Might think about making a pudding this year.

Today I'm making a big Bakewell tart and some mincepies. It's early but I want to know what the mincemeat I made nearly four weeks ago is like. I thought it looked slightly dry so I've stirred in a teaspoon of brandy.

Just a teaspoon?

I've just poured two capfuls of brandy onto my Christmas cake. Took my in-laws theirs last weekend so he had to buy some brandy to feed it himself. :mrgreen:
