I likes a bit of music as I'm working and haven't listened to Elvis Costello for years and found this best of on YouTube.

Not the best voice in the world but, hey, Bob Dylan couldn't carry a note in a bucket either and Elvis is a good wordsmith. And writes a good tune.

I Wanna Be Loved is a stand out for its production but generally a great collection.

On my bucket list to see, albeit he seems to operate at a more sedate pace than the angry young man of the 70s (don't we all? - Ed.)

The Blood & Chocolate album is a particular favourite

What happened to the idea of him performing as a duet with Russ Abbot?
Did anything come of it?

They couldn't decide who was on first

Yes I like him a lot too.
He was on an episode of Frasier the other night and his acting was good enough for a sitcom too.

Said it before but we original punks found ‘new wave’ a bit bandwagon-jumping and a watered down version of the real thing.

That was slightly my view of EC at the time - we were angry about society and he seemed more angry about his girlfriends. That said, he was good on the Stiff Records Tour I saw and I generally ignored him more than actively disliked him.

Many years later I appreciate him lots more but can’t say that I have any of his in the library.
