Dr Dre has removed a post about his daughter getting into a US university 'all on her own' following criticism over his donation to the institution.
The Instagram post was an apparent dig at celebrities, including actress Felicity Huffman, who have been charged in an alleged US college cheating scam.
The rap mogul and his business partner Jimmy Iovine gave the University of Southern California (USC) $70m in 2013.
USC is one of the universities that was allegedly targeted in the recent scandal, although there is no suggestion that any of the colleges themselves were involved in the alleged cheating scam. There is also no suggestion of any wrongdoing in the case of Dr Dre and his daughter.
But the culture of parents making hefty donations to a university to boost their child's prospects is a well-known phenomenon in the US.
Dre and Iovine's gift established the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.
"The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media," said former USC President CL Max Nikias at the time of the donation six years ago.
Iovine went from sweeping floors to becoming a top music executive that helped launched the careers of the likes of Eminem, 50 Cent and Lady Gaga.
His partnership with Dr Dre - one of the founding members of the rap group NWA - saw him sign some of the biggest names to his record label Interscope Records. Together they produced superstars and created the company Beats - which they sold to Apple for £3bn in 2014.

I'll bet that he isn't a real doctor either!
A wanker AND a pansy apparently.
Oh, and a wimp, and 'not a real man'.

Dre is obviously a hip-hop genius but he's unwise to be getting involved in this particular scandal.

What happens after rich kids bribe their way into college? I teach them. A professor at an elite US school says an influx of unskilled and entitled students is monopolizing faculty time: ‘they will eat you alive’If you think corruption in elite US college admissions is bad, what happens once those students are in the classroom is even worse.
I know, because I teach at an elite American university – one of the oldest and best-known, which rejects about 90% of applicants each year for the small number of places it can offer to undergraduates.
In this setting, where teaching quality is at a premium and students expect faculty to give them extensive personal attention, the presence of unqualified students admitted through corrupt practices is an unmitigated disaster for education and research.

$70M is a big donation. Its bad he is trying to push his kid through this and its bad the University took the donation.
How do you turn off signatures?
Re: That money was simply resting in their bank account
In his defence, the donation was made many years ago, and probably with the right intentions.
What he shouldn't have done was get cocky over his daughter getting that college years later when someone could interpret her getting in as payback. Whether it is or not is now irrelevant to the story is portrayed and the only one who would come of worse is his daughter
