Music that helps you relax.

Most music helps but is there a particular type that helps you the most?
Mine would be Swing.
eg:
Artie Shaw
Begin the Beguine

Glenn Miller

Funnily enough I put my big band playlist shuffle on after dealing with a protesting smoke detector battery in the wee small hours, and it didn't take long to get back to sleep

When JV is on, or silly boy (past his sell by date) is on, I'm going radio 3 these days.
How do you turn off signatures?

I dunno. There are lots of different types of music that help me relax - bossa nova, slower big band numbers (as above), smoky jazz, soft soul and reggae.

I like more relaxing music as I grow older partly because, being a punk, I had a lot of the more challenging and energetic stuff when I was younger.

The ideal is music that draws you in and helps you forget your troubles but isn't so complex as to require a lot of mental energy - free jazz is out on that score.

I don't have a go to style of music to relax to, it kind of depends on what kind of mood i'm in. Some days a nice version of Rodrigo's Concierto De Aranjuez or many pieces by Chopin, others downbeat electronic stuff like Jon Hopkins or Nils Frahm and again another day guitars like Mogwai, spiritualized or even a relaxing listen to Pretty Vacant.

Interesting that it’s mostly instrumental music we choose to relax to.

I guess that words require a bit more listening concentration are therefore aren’t so relaxing.

I do like to have music on in the background when I am reading BUT it can't have any vocals otherwise it distracts me
