The "Worst Covers.... in the World" Thread

Ok, I'm not afraid to start this off:

Toyah & The Humans - These Boots Are Made For Walking.
I know a man who taught his dog to play the trumpet on the London Underground.
He went from Barking to Tooting in an hour.

That's down to Toyah's usual standard, bloody awful..
This is such a huge area as there are so many shite cover versions out there. I'll have to have a think about it and pray none of them end as my earworm of the day..
This will probably involve an X Factor winner or other TV "personality"

In the olden days when the BBC would only play live music and not records, this bloke would murder the top twenty on a daily basis.

Not sure whether this should be in the Worst... or Best.... thread to be honest:

Baby, BABY!

Even if you squint really hard, it's impossible to tell what that is meant to be.

I was badly traumatised by that record as a 12-year old. I have mentioned before that it was bought by my dad when he proudly brought home a coffin-sized stereogram on skinny legs because we didn't have any records in the house to play on it.

There were many, many covers made by this man who took self-parody and post-modern irony to infinity and beyond...

This is by no means his worsetest.

I don't think I can let you have that. This makes up for any minor indiscretions like that.

I'd rather not..
Odd thing, ain't it... you meet people one at a time, they seem decent, they got brains that work, and then they get together and you hear the voice of the people. And it snarls.

I'm thinking more about established (sort of) recording artists who should really know, or be advised, better.

Georgia by Michael Bolton
A prime example of taking a beautiful song and completely sterilising it, ripping any vestige of soul out of it. He did a whole album of covers in much the same vein, absolutely ghastly.

Anything by Michael Bolton is likely to be shite.

An unnecessary "likely to be" there Jules, otherwise spot on and positively Arpee like in wiseness..
