Unlike Van Morrison, those two are very 'of their time' but an interesting listen.

I prefer Donovan's more poppy later releases like Sunshine Superman myself.

Couple of goodies there Psmith.

I remember this one from the first time round when I considered it a bit cheesy, even for disco, but I recently got a collection from the excellent SAM record label and I really like it because it mixes up a lot of elements with some great harmonies, a touch of electronica, latin percussion breaks and lots to keep the listener (and dancer) interested. And, yes, there is an element of cheese in places:

Holland is regularly put up as later period (i.e. post-Brian's breakdown) masterpiece but I'm not entirely convinced.

That said, the later work is very underestimated and those are great tracks, ignoring the talkover which is as unprofound as these things usually are.

This is my go-to Beach Boys little gem - partly written in response to Kennedy's assassination although it's more about endings in general:

The Beach Boys - The Warmth Of The Sun

Another from the SAM record label and maybe my fave.

This one is from the early days of more electronic dance music but manages to stay funky and soulful and even incorporates a short soulful female rap:

This Beat Is Mine - Vicky D - (1981)

This song keeps coming round and round for me at the moment, not sure if I had even heard it before The Avenger Infinity War. It's a great song

I like all of those.

The Velvet Underground song sounds like another version of their own 'Sister Ray' and one or the other (or both) obviously influenced this classic little gem, especially since it was produced by John Cale - very influential on early UK punk:

I promised a Jon Lucien track and here one is. Very jazz, very distinctive vocal, and very Marmite in appeal.

This was big on the jazz dance/rare groove scene:

I have a bit of a soft spot for them too, I was quite into them the album before "anarchy" which Timebomb is off "Shhhh" and of course "Anarchy", I did grow a little tired of them after that and Tubthumping I could really do without.

This is my favourite track by them https://youtu.be/cD0Rf-N_FVE Enough is Enough.
