This is 50 years old too.
No need to skip tracks on this one though.

Indeed not - absolute classic.

In my opinion it’s the jazz elements that keep it timeless and fresh enough for repeated listening but it’s a unique blend of styles and lyrics.

No matter how many years pass, Astral Weeks will still be one of the greatest albums of all time.

And me but I've got VM's greatest hits that I like. I listened to it on YouTube this afternoon as I did some writing, great stuff.

I love that era (& a few others) of Van's stuff but if I never hear Brown Eyed Girl ever again, it'll be soon enough

Someone's missed a trick - it's currently out of print (in its physical form).
It could be worse, though - he could have handed the masters to Giles Martin or the RPO.

VM always struck me as someone who was more interested in his artistic integrity than grubbing about with the sales, money and marketing aspect.

+1

I'm a very big fan of Them - probably more so than the more familiar stuff.

I don't think I've heard anything by VM apart from the singles, I don't mind them (the singles not the band) but Gloria by Them is a belting tune, no matter who sings it.

Astral Weeks is genuinely 'that good'.
