Re: Live Music.
I'm just starting to warm to Roxy music. When I was growing up, Ferry had become that creepy old man in a bad suit.
Loved Dr Feelgood since watching Oil City Confidential a few years back. Faces have been with me longer, I grew up with Rod being one of mum's favourites

Re: Live Music.
I've always loved Roxy, there was an interesting programme on BBC4 last week. Ferry has gone through some character changes, I wasn't too keen on his thin moustache phase - but I do like him. We've seen both Roxy - a fantastic over the top show and Ferry himself a few times. I would have gone again this year but we were away. I think he does some of the best Dylan covers.
As for the Faces, I never got to see them - we were trapped inside Newcastle City Hall doing a rehearsal for our school prize giving when the tickets were on sale -but that is my all time favourite song of theirs.
I have seen Rod, he is an amazing showman, just loves being on stage but his voice, since his cancer scare, has gone. He did, however serenade me with Maggie May so I'll forgive him anything.

What I remember of the 70's, the naffness of the hit parade didn't reflect the quality of the music going around at the time.

Nah, she's got red hair! And she's three inches taller than me, and I'm less than five feet tall.
Re: Live Music.
No, the clue is in the name.
I see Paul McCartney was playing in Glasgow on Friday - loved his concert in Manchester a few years ago. The only Youtube clips I can find are rubbish so I won't bother posting them but it was definitely worth the 50 year wait!
Of course some, such as Caroline, was lucky enough to se the Beatles back in their day!

Re: Live Music.
Sorry about that.Since Rod took an interest in you I naturally assumed...
Re: Live Music.
As you say, being Rod, it's the logical conclusion.....
Do you get the chance to listen to any of the BBC music programmes over there - or are they blocked?
Just Johnnie Walker does a Sunday afternoon show - and Bruce is probably his favourite so there's normally one played each week.

Re: Live Music.
Fortunately we do but because of the time difference it's not convenient a lot of the time.Your afternoon show would be around 2 am for me.
This bloke was on the Cardiff pub circuit the same time as me but I was only drinking.

Re: Live Music.
In the mid to late 70's Graham Parker and The Rumour were just about the best live band you would ever want to see. With core members from one of my fave bands at the time they were unstoppable...

Odd thing, ain't it... you meet people one at a time, they seem decent, they got brains that work, and then they get together and you hear the voice of the people. And it snarls.
Re: Live Music.
Max introduced me to it and I've found a live version.

Re: Live Music.
Patti Smith and Band, I've seen her twice. Both times at the awkward dusk set at a festival just before the main act. The first time she performed Horses the album all the way through then a few other songs, the second was a general mix of her stuff including obvious stuff from Horses.
Both times me and mates found ourselves creeping ever forward and hand waving a plenty. She's not going to be around forever go and see her if she plays

For my music education I went to the university of John Peel so it's not surprising I like this sort of thing.
